Wonderful websites

http://theoatmeal.com/–  contains a variety of short and lively online comics – even grammar ones!

http://stereopsis.com/flux/ – allows download of an application that automatically adjusts screen brightness to fit the time of day

http://www.scribd.com/ – enables reading of uploaded essays, books, magazines and reports from all subject areas from all around the world – Mr. Burn has an account where he’s uploaded some useful stuff

http://prezi.com/– a much more attractive and interactive way of delivering a presentation than PowerPoint

http://www.ted.com/ – ‘riveting talks by remarkable people, free to the world’ – basically a million Friday Forum-like speeches online

https://www.clipboard.com/– lets you clip any particular bits of web pages that you like: images, videos, text and then share them across social networks or on the website itself – like Delicious except information is shared in bite-sized chunks

http://www.wordreference.com/ – I reckon that everyone’s already using this, but it’s the best online dictionary for foreign languages and includes a forum to get translations from native speakers online

http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/ – the Boston Globe’s weekly most eye-catching photography
